My Video Interview About Freelancing for Codeable

Below is a 25-minute video interview of me talking about what it’s like to be one of the hand-selected freelance WordPress developers at Codeable. I no longer have the massive beard but everything I mention in the video is very relevant to my audience so I wanted to share this here on my blog as well.

If you’d like to instead read the interview the full transcription is here: https://codeable.io/changing-lives-raleigh-leslie/

Please watch the video below, or simply listen as there are no visuals, and let me know in the comments if you have any thoughts or questions for me at all.

My Story: I Work from my Laptop from Anywhere

Dreams do come true. From a very young age I set a goal for myself that I wanted to be able to work from my laptop remotely from anywhere. The past year I’ve done exactly that and is one of the biggest accomplishments of my professional career. It wasn’t easy reaching this goal but has been as rewarding I had hoped it would be. Looking back I’m thankful for all the experiences along the way in reaching this goal and wouldn’t do anything different on my pathway to arriving here. I’ve managed to create a life/work balance that affords me the happiness I desired from the freedom of workplace. In this post I’m going to discuss getting to this point, what it’s like now, and what the future holds and future personal/work plans.

This story is long, and by no means the whole story, but I think paints the picture well enough to post here.

One Last Epic Day for My 14/15 Season at White Pass

I had just gotten back from a week trip I took for my friend’s wedding in San Diego. Such an awesome trip got to spend a little time in the Manhattan/Hermosa Beach area too which was cool.

While I was in San Diego I intended to get my sailboat mooring ball permit renewed only to discover some tweaker had broken into my sailboat and stole a bunch of shit… gas tank, solar panel, swim ladder, registration papers, and some other smaller items. I leave my sailboat unlocked but the thief managed to still mangle the lock regardless… they’ve got some bad karma coming in hot.

That meant that once I got back to Packwood I needed to turn right around and drive back down to San Diego to fix that immediate problem and enjoy the rest of the summer thawing out.

The iphone photos & videos here are from my last day of riding with the boys I was able to make happen before heading south. A little hike to discover some White Pass backcountry.
