As a WordPress developer I get many new clients requesting that their .PSD design be built out on the all familiar Genesis framework. When I ask them if they are set on using this theme for their design they usually go on to tell me all about how it’s the best theme for SEO. I find this to be very far from the truth and wonder where they get this information. Sure, a well-coded theme will help with SEO but great SEO results can be achieved with almost any theme out there.
Saying Genesis is best for SEO is the same as saying Thesis is good for SEO… very very old outdated mis-informed news. I have built huge networks of hundreds of sites in the past with different themes to make them more unique all with unique content and the genesis sites performed no better than the thesis sites or any theme for that matter. And that was in the SEO gaming glory days. It’s all about content and crawlability… (and more modern considerations such as site speed and UX, ect..). Last tip: Yes, themes with built in schema markup are helpful.
